We are increasing our alloy portfolio! Yesterday we received the first samples of the three new aluminium alloys that we are currently studying: Silafont®-36, Castasil®-37 and Magsimal®-58. This marks the beginning of the first stage of our project which started back in February and is focused on the study of alternative alloys.
After the already finished similation study, our purpose now is to die-cast these alloys and then based on the results to fine-tune our CFD simulation software (Flow 3D). This will allow us to precisely and safely predict the behaviour of these materials during the filling and solification stages within the mould. In order to obtain a comprenhensive process evaluation method, we have constructed special for the purpose tooling which includes figures with challenging geometries. The samples will then be measured, analysed and compared to the simulation results.
With this, very soon we will be able to offer our customers not only with the possibility of using alloys with distinctive characteristics and mechanical properties, but also to provide support and make design recommendations from the early stages of the design of a casting.
